My fascination with homes began early on, growing up watching Home Improvement with Tim Allen and JTT (#IYKYK). Later, as a Letter Carrier, I found myself chuckling at Handyman Magazine’s home inspection fails during my breakfast routine.
Walking through my neighborhood as I delivered the mail, I gained an intimate view of the buildings and houses as they gradually changed over time. This sparked a deep interest in building science, particularly in how time, craftsmanship, and materials can greatly impact a property’s value or gradually lead to deterioration.
As a homeowner, I dove headfirst into repairing and renovating “fixer-upper” properties. I experienced firsthand the satisfaction that comes from making a historic home not only look better, but also knowing you’ve added years to its lifetime by reinforcing its structural integrity. I became inspired to become a certified home inspector.
I want to use my personal experience to help other homeowners, particularly women like me, feel more informed and confident during the home buying process.
