About Blower Door Testing
Included as part of a home energy audit, blower door testing is a quantitative way of measuring air leakage and comfort disparities within a building. Using this diagnostic testing provides a repeatable and measurable baseline for what amount air leakage your building experiences. Blower door testing is available as a stand alone service as well, although it is always accompanied by a combustion safety test to ensure occupant healthy and safety concerns during and after testing.

Prepare the Home
Our first inspection on a new property is typically the pre-drywall phase. Here we can inspect the physical structure of the building, the ducting, the air sealing, and also often the first stage of insulation.
Prepare for New Home Owners
Typically completed before final closing, this inspection is similar to a general home inspection, but with a more careful and eye for detail. This is the last chance to find any necessary repairs to all parts of the building, including cosmetic issues, before the owners move into the property.
Measure and Scan for IF
Before the end of the builders 1 year warranty, we return to do a second full home inspection on the property. This is the final change to catch any issues on the property before the builder walks away from their warranty and all responsibility to the building structure.

What to Expect
Depending on which inspection you’re requesting the time may vary. Pre-drywall inspections typically take under an hour, pre-closing and pre-warranty inspections are typically 2-3 hours. You are not required to be present during any of the inspections, however most home owners enjoy the building process and like to be present for part of the inspection to ask questions.
